Subtronics, The Rise Of Cyclops Army
Subtronics, born in 1992 and raised in Philadelphia(Go Birds🦅), got into music production as a teenager, pulling influence from the raw, gritty sounds of early dubstep and riddim. Back in 2019, Subtronics blew up the scene with “Griztronics,” his electrifying tag team with GRiZ—it didn’t just hit No. 9 on Billboard’s dance charts, it lit up TikTok like a bass-fueled wildfire.
In 2019, he launched his label, Cyclops Recordings, as a platform for his creative freedom and a launchpad for rising bass artists. It’s become a breeding ground for innovation in the underground dubstep scene. Artists such as Zeds Dead, Wooli, Rusko, and GRiZ have released music with Cyclops recordings. As well as over 200 others.
The Cyclops imagery, the Cyclops Recordings label, and the Cyclops Army fanbase all play into a unique identity that’s easy to rally around. You can always spot Cyclops army merch out at a show.
Jesse isn’t just out here dropping bangers—he’s building full-on worlds with his music. Fractals (2022) kicked things off, followed by the remix-packed AntiFractals (2023), taking fans on a wild ride through dubstep, DnB, future bass, and all the glitchy weirdness in between. Then he dropped Tesseract in 2024, linking up with heavy hitters like Excision, Rezz, and Grabbitz to prove he can go just as hard with melody as he does with mayhem.
His latest project, Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion (2025), feels like a whole new chapter—more emotional, more immersive, and still heavy as hell. It’s clear: Subtronics is leveling up, but he’s still got that same raw energy fans fell in love with from the start.
Subtronics is one of the most genuinely connected artists in bass music. He constantly engages with fans, shouting them out, posting memes, replying to messages, and making his community feel seen. That kind of authenticity helps fuel the hype. Jesse is a man for the people, and the people love him.
As for me, I have been to two Subtronics sets. One at Roo 2023. And Cyclops Rocks 2025! Subtronics is a fun artist to see live, they always have good vibes and are always a killer set. Looking forward to next time!
