The Greatest Place On Earth.

What's up showchasers?

Today we are talking about the greatest place on planet Earth.

Nestled in the Rockies with, 868 acres of Land to hike and explore, there is one particular spot that is known to the world.

Red Rocks Amphitheater.

With a Capacity Of 9,545 situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Red Rocks provides a unique natural backdrop for performances. The towering red sandstone formations create a beautiful and visually captivating environment that enhances the overall show experience.

When you first see the venue from the road you can't help but get excited, no matter how many times you have been there.

Going to Red Rocks is not an ordinary experience, shows at Red Rocks are a place to enjoy live music, friends, fresh air, and beautiful scenery.

In this blog, we will be discussing what to know before hitting a show here.

  • Food and Drinks

Red Rocks allows you to bring in a sealed non-alcoholic drinks.

You are also allowed to bring in food. Snacks, Subs, Pizza, Whatever you want. They do however offer food vendors at the top of the venue. They also do have a restaurant (Ship Rock Grille) but it does close at 2:30 or during events you can contact them for a reservation.

  • The Great Outdoors

Nothing beats watching a show outside. I would take an outdoor venue over an indoor one any day. Always dress for the weather, and always have a raincoat or poncho because you never know what crazy weather can hit. And bring a blanket for when the sun goes down.

  • Tailgating

It is a forgotten art it seems, I love tailing. Nothing beats hanging with friends in the lot and going to catch one of your favorite artists. There are multiple lots that you can tailgate at. My favorite is Upper North. They have bathrooms and easy access to the lower left side of the venue.

  • The view

The view is beautiful. I highly recommend going to the top. Going to the top of the venue, you can look out into the distance and see the city of Denver. At night time, you can see the whole city lit up. Also behind you, there are vast landscapes for hiking.

  • The history

On May 31, 1906, the grand opening of what was then known as Garden of the Titans featured Pietro Satriano and his 25-piece brass band.

This legendary venue has hosted every genre of music.

August 29, 1965. Johnny Cash

Jimi Hendrix appeared on September 1, 1968,

  • Fun Fact:

  • In 1964 The Beatles played Red Rocks for only $6.60. This is the only show on the Beatle's North American tour that did not sell out.

  • In 1978 Grateful Dead played two nights to sold-out crowds.

  • Rezz was the first female electronic music headliner (2017)

  • Seating

Seating for Red Rocks is almost always general admission. Most show they have the first 8 rows closed off for VIPs.

Parking:

The Parking is always free with multiple lots on each side of the venue. Get there early the upper lots will fill up and some of the lower lots will have you walking nearly a mile uphill.

  • Hiking before the show -

The Hike is a great reason to go early, there are plenty of trails around to explore.

Must haves:

A blanket to stay warm when the sun goes down.

A One-pocket backpack.

A refillable water bottle for the water stations.

Snacks.

Liquid IV.

Good shoes.

Battery Pack.

Raincoat or Poncho.

Red Rocks is a bucket-list venue for many artists and show chasers. People travel from all over the world to come to see its natural beauty and experience the sound of the acoustics. Performances there often become the most memorable moments in artist careers. Curating the perfect stage, setlist, and vibe.

After seeing 15-plus shows, Red Rocks has become my favorite venue by a long shot. Nothing can match the tailgates, friends, vibe, and the natural beauty of the great outdoors. I love getting there early and tailgating, cooking lunch, and meeting new friends.

There is no other place in the world I would rather be.

Red Rock is a magical place to visit. Every little thing makes this venue superior to so many. This is the greatest place on earth!
